Encontro Normal com a Diferença returns to Madeira

The 5th Normal Encounter with Difference has been taking place since Sunday, February 24th. The Clara Andermatt Company (ACCCA) and Dançando com a Diferença have organized this event since 2014, guided by Clara Andermatt and Henrique Amoedo.

The Normal Encounter is an artistic residency that brings together about 20 performers and creators with and without disabilities. It aims to provide experiences, looks and reflections on different forms of creation, expression and communication. It is an intensive action with professionals, mainly from the dance field, but also from other artistic areas such as music, theater, video, performance, and literature.

The meetings have already taken place at the ACCCA Studios - Lisbon (2014), Teatro Viriato - Viseu (2015), O Espaço do Tempo / Convento da Saudação - Montemor-o-Novo (2016) and Mudas. Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira (2014 and 2019), with the support of the respective entities.

In each edition of the Normal Meeting a central theme is launched. In this edition the focus is on the possibilities of choice, decision-making and self-determination. THINK, DO, and EVALUATE are concepts that are accompanying the participants throughout these days.

The Mudas. Museum of Contemporary Art in Madeira opened its doors last Monday for the activities to take place there. The day began with a visit guided by the director Márcia Sousa to the permanent collection and temporary exhibition.

The Encontro Normal com a Diferença, a co-creation of both companies, is funded by the Direção Geral das Artes.
